Cobalt’s ‘designer jet fuel’ takes flight with Navy deal

An unexpected partner has turned into a big win for Cobalt Technologies Inc.
Cobalt, which has developed a way to convert biobutanol into designer jet fuel, recently caught the Navy’s attention, said CEO Rick Wilson. This resulted in a research and development agreement with the U.S. Navy in November.
The Mountain View-based company also has an exclusive license option to commercialize the process not just for the military, but for civilian transportation use as well.
